What is the Certified Professional Home Builder Program? The Certified Professional Home Builder program is administered by The Housing Institute, Inc. and is the only one of its kind in the state of Georgia. This voluntary certification program for home builders was established to recognize professionals in the home building industry. The term "Professional" is used to describe the manner in which a Certified Professional Home Builder conducts business and the process the builder follows in delivering your new home. The Certified Professional Home Builder program is truly The Stamp Of A Professional.

Why should I choose a Certified Professional Home Builder? Because buying or building your new home is probably the biggest investment you'll ever make, it only makes sense to choose a home builder who has an investment in their profession. Certified Professional Home Builders have made that investment by agreeing to meet certain criteria. Certified Professional Home Builders are required to:

· Have 3 years or more of home building experience.
· Derive their main source of income from home building.
· Build to the standards set forth in the Homeowner Handbook or their company's equivalent.
· Have an Approved Limited Warranty.
· Offer mandatory binding arbitration.
· Maintain appropriate insurance coverage's, including builders risk, general liability and other insurance required by law, i.e., workers' compensation.
· Provide written references from a financial institution, homeowners, trade contractors and material suppliers.
· Maintain membership in their local home builders association.
· Attend an orientation session presented by The Housing Institute, Inc. regarding what certification entails, including their duties as a Certified Professional Home Builder.
· Complete 16 hours of continuing education annually for re-certification.
· Apply for re-certification annually.
